What is the average cost of developing and maintaining a data warehouse for a large company?
Question: What is the average cost of developing and maintaining a data warehouse for a large company? Also, what is the cost of the data hardware and software (stack)?
Sid Adelman's Answer: An average is meaningless. The cost will be dependent on the application, even if you are planning an EDW, the size of the database, the number of concurrent users, the number, complexity and quality of the source data, the tools you bring in, the skills you have available to work on the data warehouse, the need for outside consultants and contractors, your SLAs, the competence of your project management, the involvement of the business folks and much more.
