Navy Exchange Service Command Selects Netezza
October 6, 2008 - The Navy Exchange Service Command, (NEXCOM), selected the Netezza data warehouse appliance as its enterprise data warehouse (EDW).
The Netezza EDW analyzes data from NEXCOM's global network of 305 stores and 1,200 service operations located on 104 naval installations. NEXCOM is a world-wide $2.5 billion chain of retail stores and hotels that offer a variety of services for active-duty sailors, reservists, retirees and their family members.
"We needed a high-performance EDW infrastructure that could scale as the number of users and data volumes increased to maintain the quality of our services and support," said Kean Westcott, senior vice president, chief information officer at NEXCOM. "As a retailer, NEXCOM needs the ability to make sound decisions around initiatives such as customer relationship management and supply chain management."
NEXCOM and Netezza partnered with technology solutions provider Yomari to deploy the Netezza appliance using the Yomari Retail Intelligence Toolkit for Netezza. The YRI Toolkit is a solution package designed to help retailers who use Oracle Retail rapidly deploy a complete reporting solution on Netezza.
