Pentaho Extends the Benefits of Open Source BI

May 5, 2008 - Pentaho announced the availability of Mondrian 3.0, the latest release of the company’s OLAP server, a key component of the Pentaho Open BI Suite.

Mondrian 3.0 has enhanced analytics and other features, including cell-level security and aggregate role support. The enhanced analytic functions can be used by organizations in a variety of industries.

Key New Features of Mondrian 3.0 include:

  • Advanced analytics capabilities and support for a broader range of OLAP applications,
  • Cell-level security and aggregated role support for much greater control over who can access what information,
  • Streamlined and simplified path from design to rollout of OLAP applications,
  • Support for the OLAP4J API, an open standard for OLAP APIs developed by the open source community,
  • Support for JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Interface) for more flexible connectivity to data sources,
  • Mondrian Schema Workbench, a graphical designer now integrated with the Pentaho platform and supported by Pentaho, and
  • Updated integration with the Pentaho Open BI Suite for seamless OLAP integration with reporting, dashboards and the Pentaho BI Platform.

“Our commercial success and the response of our customers demonstrates that Pentaho is increasingly viewed as the superior alternative to inflexible proprietary BI solutions that can never respond to evolving market needs,” said Richard Daley, founder and CEO of Pentaho. “Our product is advancing with incredible speed, and our momentum in the market will be further fueled by current economic conditions that make solid business intelligence more vital than ever before, even as companies have less money to spend on it. With our customer-friendly business model, Pentaho is becoming the BI vendor of choice.”
